Peppie's First Steps

We got Peppie from a shelter with a notion that she growls and bites everyone who tries to approach her. Her playmate was adopted, and she refused to eat and was "very sad".

Peppie made a lot of progress since then, loves to play and cuddle with the other dogs, but she is still very suspicious of people and doesn't want to be touched. This is changing little by little, every week we notice a tiny improvement.

On the first day, Peppie would not move from her bed for hours. Finally I picked her up and carried her out to the yard hoping that curiosity would take over the fear. She immediately hid behind a pile of trash, and stayed there for 15-20 minutes. Then, cautiously, step by step, she ventured out of the pile to explore.
